Every Simplyhealth Professionals Academy trainer brings with them their own unique professional experience and expertise. Which when combined, means you and your practice have access to best-in-class training that covers all of your practice’s needs.


Jo Banks - Head of the Academy

Jo Banks - Head of the Academy 

Background - Jo started working for the company in 1993 as a consultant moving dental practices from the NHS to Denplan. She is the original trainer for the Academy team and has a degree in History along with many qualifications in business management and coaching.

Specialist areas - With 25 years’ experience working with dentists and as a manager she uses all of this experience to guide the team and help dental practices achieve their goals. Although Jo is heavily involved in strategy and management it is important for her to still go out and train. Her favourite area to train is focussing on business goals.

Outside of work - Jo is always first to volunteer for karaoke or you may find her hunting a new find in an antique shop.





Lil Niddrie - Academy Coach and Project Executive

Lil Niddrie - Academy Coach and Project Executive

Background - Lil started working for the company in 1993 as a customer support advisor helping practices move to Denplan from the NHS, she started as a trainer in 2003 and in 2017 became the team’s coach and project executive. Lil has a degree in social anthropology, is a clinical hypnotherapist, practitioner of NLP and master practitioner and trainer of Modern Energy Tapping.

Specialist areas – Lil particularly enjoys developing individual skills, confidence building and ways to maximise performance and enjoyment at work. This is reflected in her training with practices and her role as the Academy coach. Lil loves variety and as well as coaching and training she also works on departmental projects.

Outside of work - Lil enjoys kayaking, trekking holidays and going to festivals in her 1973 VW van.





Helen Neville - Academy Trainer

Helen Neville - Academy Trainer

Background - Helen started working for the company as a trainer in 2015. She started working in Dentistry in 1996 as a practice manager and has experience with both NHS and private practice, she worked through the sale of a practice, was involved in the Denplan Excel pilot and business planning for the practice. Helen is a qualified dental nurse, decontamination lead and has qualifications in management and risk assessments.

Specialist areas - Helen loves that she can take all of this frontline experience and understanding of day to day challenges that face a dental practice and help dental teams overcome these. Her favourite area of training is legislation and compliance.

Outside of work - Helen enjoys kickboxing, karate, golf, gymnastics and house restorations.





Courtney Blair - Academy Trainer

Courtney Blair - Academy Trainer

Background - Courtney started working for the company in 2017 as an Academy trainer. After a degree in sport science, Courtney completed her PGCE and taught a range of subjects including health and social care and training dental nurses. Courtney also has experience in the health care industry promoting health and wellbeing.

Specialist areas - Courtney loves being an Academy trainer because every day is different, she enjoys making training current, modern and fun. Her favourite area of training is Safeguarding as she gets to bring in all of her previous professional experience.

Outside of work – You will find Courtney playing football (for the premier league), she also likes to travel and keep up to date with her fitness knowledge as she is a qualified personal trainer.




Natasha Fisher - Academy Trainer

Natasha Fisher - Academy Trainer

Background - Natasha started working for the company in 2015 in sales and customer service. She became a coach for the dental customer service team before joining the Academy in 2016.

Specialist areas - Her experience both with Simplyhealth and in her previous roles help her with all elements of her training role. Natasha particularly enjoys meeting lots of different people as a trainer and understanding the differences between each dental practice she visits. Her favourite area of training is marketing and social media as she enjoys the excitement of practices planning for their future.

Outside of work – You will find Natasha following her healthy living regime and relaxing with her family and friends. Natasha is a qualified beautician as well as having studied introductions to communication and dentistry.




Lisa Humble - Academy Trainer

Lisa Humble - Academy Trainer

Background - Lisa started working for the company in 2017 as an Academy trainer. She has worked in healthcare since 2004, is a qualified midwife as well as having a PGCE, NEBOSH general certificate, level 4 in food safety and is a qualified first aider. Before working for the Academy Lisa worked in the NHS and private sector, with charities in the health sector and has trained a range of professionals in health care and health and safety.

Specialist areas - Lisa loves being an Academy trainer as she gets to develop her own knowledge and share this with dental practices. Lisa likes to make a training day fun and her favourite areas to train are team work, exploring a team’s strengths and dementia as she has both personal and professional experience in this area.

Outside of work - Lisa spends most of her time with her two children, at the gym or watching sci-fi films.




Jane Maylor - Academy Trainer

Jane Maylor - Academy Trainer

Background - Jane started working for the company in 2008 as an academy trainer. She has a diploma in positive psychology as well as qualifications in SDI and introduction to dentistry. Before becoming a trainer Jane spent 6 years in sales and 15 years training customer care in retail.

Specialist areas - Jane loves being an academy trainer because every day is different, every practice is different and she can train the same modules with different outcomes. Jane’s favourite area of training is customer care, she also enjoys team building and likes to support practices in overcoming their challenges. 

Outside of work - You will find Jane getting muddy as she marshals muddy obstacle racing, if not she will be open water swimming or running. 





Bernadette Phillips - Academy Trainer

Bernadette Phillips - Academy Trainer

Background - Bernadette started working for the company in 2017 as an Academy trainer. She holds a post graduate diploma in management, is a NLP practitioner, CIPD, CELTA and HND level 5. Her experience is in compliance and legislation and she has a wealth of training experience that she brings to the Academy. 

Specialist areas - Bernadette loves being an Academy trainer because of the variety. She gets to apply her experience to a different industry and there is nothing better than those lightbulb moments when she sees something, no matter how small, click. Her favourite areas of training are the soft skills especially stress management.

Outside of work - When she isn’t training, Bernadette’s 2 teenagers and dog take up most of her time, she enjoys walking the Pen-y-Fan, salsa and is learning to play golf.




Hannah Throne - Academy Co-ordinator

Hannah Thorne - Academy Co-ordinator

Background - Hannah started working for the company in 2015 in corporate customer service and joined the Academy in 2017. Hannah spent 5 years working in customer service and team management in retail, she also has a master’s degree in Archaeology.

Specialist areas - Hannah loves working as a co-ordinator as she gets to build relationships with lots of different dental practices and bring her management and processing skills to ensuring everything runs smoothly. Her favourite area of training is private patient experience and she enjoys having the opportunity to join the trainers on a training day.

Outside of work - You will find Hannah in her garden or at a pottery class.
